5. Roman Abramovich buys Chelsea FC back in 2003
Checking in at No. 5 on the list for Chelsea soccer has to be when club owner Roman Abramovich bought the team back in 2003. As soon as he purchased the Chelsea Blues, he set his focus on getting the team to capture major trophies.
That's surely been the case, as Chelsea has won the EPL title fives time since Abramovich took over. This includes going back-to-back with Jose Mourinho as manager in 2005 and 2006.
4. Jose Mourinho arrives to Chelsea and deems himself 'The Special One'
Speaking of Mourinho, his hiring checks in at No. 4 on our list. That's right, 'The Special One' arrived to London and wasted no time letting the other English Premier League clubs know he was ready to take the country by storm. Mourinho did just that, winning the league in 2005 and 2006. While he may be on the other side of town now as Tottenham's manager, CFC fans will always have love for Jose.
3. Chelsea takes down Bolton to secure its first league title in 50 years
At No. 3, who could forget the 2-0 win against Bolton in April of 2005? Why did this victory mean so much? Well, because the three points gave Chelsea their first league title in 50 years. With stars like Frank Lampard, John Terry and so many others on the squad, the Blues proudly called themselves champs, and fans across the world were able to rejoice the historic moment.
2. The unforgettable night against Barcelona at the Nou Camp in the Champions League
This showdown with Barcelona will NEVER be forgotten by Chelsea fans. Up 1-0 after the first leg in the Champions League semifinals, the Blues punched their ticket to the final against Bayern Munich after a heart-stopping 2-2 draw against Barcelona in Catalonia. Fernando Torres' late goal secured Chelsea its trip to Germany to play for the championship. What a thriller.
1. Chelsea wins its first Champions League title in 2012
You already knew this was going to be No. 1 on our list. Against all odds, Chelsea traveled to Germany and defeated Bayern Munich in their own backyard for the Champions League title in 2012. This one went to penalty kicks, with Didier Drogba, who scored the equalizer late in the second half, delivering the game-winning shot to end things. Drogba will always be a club legend, with his showing in the final being a big reason why.
