Nunu Espirito Santo is Tottenham's new manager

Tottenham hires Nuno Espírito Santo as new manager

Earlier in the day, it looked like Manchester United landing Jadon Sancho was going to be the biggest piece of English Premier League news. Well, Tottenham Hotspur had other ideas.

On Wednesday, the club made a massive announcement: Nuno Espírito Santo has been hired to be the club's new manager. Goodness me, what a brilliant hire by Spurs.

Nuno joins the club after a successful stint with Wolves. He's of course taking over the reigns for Jose Mourinho, who was sacked by the club during the middle of the 2020-21 campaign.

“First of all, I’d like to welcome Nuno to the Club," Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy said in a statement. "We should like to thank our supporters for all their patience throughout this process. I’ve spoken already about the need to revert back to our core DNA of playing attacking, entertaining football and Fabio and I believe Nuno is the man who can take our talented group of players, embrace our young players coming through and build something special.”

The new Spurs boss spent four years with Wolves, helping them not only bump up from the Championship to the Premier League, but also helping them go on a memorable run in the Europa League in 2019-20.

That campaign, Wolves made it all the way to the quarterfinals. Their supporters were in dreamland. Now, he'll look to try and help Spurs get back to its usual elite form.

After a disappointing 2020-21, supporters have been hoping for an experienced manager to make his way to North London to get the team back on track. Look for Nuno to get the job done. What a move by Tottenham FC.
