Neymar staying at PSG to try and win the Champions League is inspiring

For what felt like an eternity, Neymar Jr. had been linked with a move back to Barcelona. The rumors only heated up over the summer, especially after the Brazilian powered Paris Saint-Germain to their brilliant run in the Champions League.

However, shortly after the loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League Final, Neymar Jr. wasted no time in letting the world know that he wasn't going anywhere, and that his focus was on helping PSG win the title at some point down the road.

"I like this idea of doing everything to leave my name in the history books of my club," Neymar previously said. "If people were doubting the presence of PSG as a great European club, those doubts died in Lisbon. We left this city with the feeling of being renewed and confidence in our capacity to win it one day to write an even greater history."

Known for being arrogant at times, it appears Neymar Jr. was humbled in the loss, and he knew that the last thing he could do was jump ship to a new team. He's decided to stay loyal to the Ligue 1 powerhouse, which fans everywhere should appreciate.

What made Neymar's announcement so special too was the fact that he showcased just how much the loss to Bayern Munich meant to him. It was devastating for the Brazilian, who has already accomplished so much in his career.

While the defeat stung for him, he felt that he also let the millions of people in Paris down as well. If you don't think that's motivated him for this year's Champions League, then you're surely mistaken.

As of this writing, PSG has gotten off to a bit of a rough start, as they opened the tournament with a 2-1 loss at home to Manchester United. They find themselves in third place of the Group H table, with United in first and RB Leipzig in second.

However, there's still plenty of time for PSG to turn things around and earn their trip to the knockout stages of the tournament. While Neymar is dealing with a groin injury, you know he'll have his eyes set on getting PSG ready to go on a strong run.

Should they get that job done, there's no question Neymar will play a monster role in making that happen. Let's see if the Brazilian sensation will be able to come through for this team.
