This move had been in the final stages for a little while, but things have officially gone through on Monday. As you might have been able to guess, Man City supporters are jacked up about the 22-year-old's future with the club.

“Julian is a player we have monitored for some time,” Manchester City Director of Football Txiki Begiristain said. “He is capable of operating in a number of attacking roles, and we firmly believe he's one of the best young attacking players in South America.

“I am so happy we have managed to bring him to Manchester City. I really believe we can provide him with the right conditions to fulfill his potential and become a top player.”

Alvarez made his senior debut in 2018 with River Plate. Ever since then, he's been considered one of the most exciting young forwards in the country. He also has earned some caps with Argentina's senior national team as well.

Thanks to his potential and being from Argentina, fans indeed are comparing Alvarez to the one and only Aguero, who will go down as one of the best City strikers of all time. People are waiting for an Aguero statue to be built in Manchester.

Alvarez will close out the season with River Plate and then make his move to the English Premier League this summer. It goes without saying, but Alvarez will arrive to England with some monster expectations. We'll see if the young man will be able to deliver starting in the 2022-2023 season.
