They sure made it look easy, didn’t they?
For Liverpool fans, what they saw go down on Sunday at Anfield was nothing short of brilliant, as the Reds took down Manchester City 3-1 in one of the biggest games of the English Premier League thus far this campaign.
In what turned out to be a dominant showing, Fabinho got things started in the sixth minute, blasting an absolute rocket past a diving Claudio Bravo. As soon as the shot hit the back of the net, fans exploded in celebrations inside the stadium.
Less than 10 minutes later, Mohamed Salah doubled the lead for the home team with a beautiful header in the 13th minute. His goal was set up by a world-class cross from Andy Robertson.
Down 2-0 early on, Manchester City was on the ropes, no doubt about it. Well, Sadio Mane provided another devastating blow in the 51st minute, putting Liverpool up 3-0 with a superb header of his own.
Manchester City was able to get on the score sheet late, with Bernardo Silva scoring in the 78th minute, but it was simply too little too late for the visiting club.
With the victory, Liverpool holds 31 points and is now eight points clear of Leicester City and Chelsea, who both are at 26 points. Man City meanwhile has dropped to fourth in the standings with 25 points. Is the title race already over? The Liverpool faithful can start dreaming once again.
