Diogo Jota opened the scoring in the Liverpool win over Arsenal

Liverpool within 1 point of City after win over Arsenal

Oh the drama. With Liverpool taking down Arsenal on Wednesday night at the Emirates Stadium, the title race is now closer than ever. That's because the Reds now find themselves only one point behind Manchester City.

If you take a look at the English Premier League table, Manchester City is in first place with 70 points, but LFC is right behind them at 69 points. With plenty of season left, it feels like this is going to be a toss-up the rest of the way.

The Emirates is never an easy spot to play in, but Liverpool was able to ignore the loud cheers from the home fans in London to record the strong win. This one was tied at 0-0 entering halftime, but Diogo Jota opened the scoring in the 54th minute.

Jota received a brilliant pass from Thiago and then he fired an absolute rocket past a diving Aaron Ramsdale. It was a thing of beauty all in all for that goal, with the Liverpool fans in the away section going nuts.

LFC wasn't done there, though, as Roberto Firmino made things 2-0 with a great goal of his own in the 62nd minute. Arsenal had some chances to try and score after that, but they couldn't make it happen.

With the win, Liverpool is riding high and they now look like serious title contenders. MCFC will look to hold them off, but that task is going to be easier said than done.

Football fans everywhere can't wait to see these two teams meet on April 10 at the Etihad Stadium. The winner of that match very well could end up being the eventual champions.
