This would be a reunion for the ages. Recently, it was announced that Lionel Messi will NOT be returning to Paris Saint-Germain next season. The Argentine legend spent two campaigns with the club.

Now, all eyes are on Messi to see where he'll be playing next. Could a move to Saudi Arabia or Major League soccer be on the way for him? Well, let's hold the phone on that, as there's a chance Messi returns to Catalonia to play for Barcelona as well: 

Lionel Messi could return to FC Barcelona next season

This would be incredible news for La Liga. With Karim Benzema leaving Real Madrid, it's a major hit for the league in terms of star talent. No one is bigger on this planet than Messi, though. 

If he were to return to Barcelona, its fans would be over the moon in happiness. Messi won countless titles with the team before leaving two years ago, highlighted by multiple La Liga championships and Champions League titles. 

When Messi left for Paris, it was devastating for countless folks. Barcelona as a whole felt like clouds were covering the entire city. Despite Barcelona winning La Liga this year, it still didn't feel the same without Messi being in town. 

However, the fact that Messi's dad, according to insider Fabrizio Romano, has met with Joan Laporta has people talking. It's not going to be easy for Messi to sign with Barca, but there's a way the club can get creative. 

Messi is expected to make his decision sooner than later. He could either head to Saudi Arabia for a boatload of money, or return to Barcelona to play for the club that helped him become one of the best of all time. The MLS could be calling too. We should find out soon how this all plays out.
