English Premier League transfer window winners and losers

On Monday, Oct. 5, the English Premier League transfer window deadline arrived, with some exciting moves coming on the last day of action. It goes without saying, but there were some serious winners, as teams looked to land some help for their English Premier League schedule.

However, there were some other teams who really dropped the ball in making improvements to their clubs. So, who were the winners and losers?

Winners of the English Premier League summer transfer window

• Tottenham Hotspur: We've of course got to bring up Spurs here at the top of the list for what they were able to get done. Not only did they just take down Manchester United 6-1 at Old Trafford, but they also have the confidence of bringing in Gareth Bale, Sergio Reguilon, Joe Hart, Carlos Vinicius and others.

Bale of course is the headliner here, as the superstar goal-scorer has finally made his way back to London from Real Madrid after seven years in Spain. Bale had been buzzing for a return to the English Premier League and he got his wish. Once he returns to full health, the rest of the EPL better watch out.

• Chelsea FC: Coming in a close second, it goes without saying, but Chelsea had an incredible summer transfer window. Frank Lampard and Co. were able to bring in guys like Timo Werner, Thiago Silva, Edouard Mendy, Kai Havertz and more. With Werner and Havertz, they've already helped strengthen the attack for the Blues.

As for Silva, him coming in to help out the defense as a centre back is huge. The Brazilian enjoyed a phenomenal stay with Paris Saint-Germain where he served as the club captain. Now he's ready to bring his veteran leadership to London with Chelsea. Mendy will be the team's starting keeper, as he hopes to provide some balance between the posts.

• Arsenal: Arsenal FC was another team that had a tremendous summer transfer window, with them making a MONSTER Arsenal news splash on the transfer deadline day. Yup, they made a move to bring in superstar midfielder Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid.

The last-minute haul came seemingly out of nowhere, but the Arsenal board was able to get things done in a pretty quick manner. Partey arriving to the Emirates Stadium is massive, as he'll no question open up more space for Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to do their things and blast balls into the back of the net.

Note: In addition to our teams, we've of course got to bring up Everton and Aston Villa for having tremendous transfer windows. Liverpool also deserves praise for some of the moves they made, including landing Diogo Jota and Thiago Alcantara.

Biggest losers from the English Premier transfer window

• Manchester United: While Manchester United FC was able to bring in Edinson Cavani and Alex Telles to headline their moves, they struck out in improving their team to a satisfactory degree. No centre backs? Where was the winger everyone expected them to land?

Of course, the club had been linked with a move for Jadon Sancho, but that never materialized. Plain and simple, not completing the deal for Sancho to make his English Premier League return was a huge mistake by Ed Woodward and Co., especially after getting dismantled at home by Tottenham 6-1. This team doesn't look like it has what it takes to finish in the Top 4. Another Europa League season next year for United? It's looking that way.

Note: Other teams to blow it in the summer transfer window were Burnley, Fulham and West Ham.
