Chelsea in 3-team race to sign German striker Timo Werner

As of Thursday morning, there are eight days remaining in the January transfer window, and Chelsea is still in the hunt to bring in a new striker.
With the poor goal-scoring form up front for the Blues of late, extra pressure has been added on Frank Lampard and Co. to get something done. With a deal for PSG legend Edinson Cavani appearing to fall through, is there a new option on the table?
Yep, there sure is.
Per multiple reports, Chelsea is interested in signing RB Leipzig standout Timo Werner. However, they're not the only ones in pursuit of landing his services. Werner, 23, has also been linked to a potential move to both Liverpool and Barcelona.

Despite the other European giants entering the race for Werner, the London club is considered the favorite here.
The hold up, however, is the talks between Chelsea and RB Leipzig. With him being such a highly-touted player, the German side is reportedly wanting more than £60 million for his transfer.
Will Chelsea budge in meeting those demands? They might have extra incentive, as striker Tammy Abraham suffered an ankle injury in the 2-2 draw against Arsenal earlier this week and could be forced off the pitch for a bit. If he's to miss any kind of significant time, it'd be a massive blow for Chelsea.
They currently find themselves in fourth place of the English Premier League standings, but teams like Manchester United are hot on their trail.
As of this writing, Werner has 20 goals in 18 Bundesliga matches this campaign. That alone tells you why Chelsea wants him. Will Werner end up in the EPL? We should find out by next week.
