Liverpool is hoping to stay in first place this weekend.

3 best English Premier League games for Matchday 21

It's hard to imagine that we're already this far into the season, but teams ready to make a massive push for the title will hope to make a statement this weekend. For Matchday 21, there are some great contests on the schedule.

As we enter play, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Arsenal make up the Top 4. However, other squads will keep on making noise as well. In this piece, we take a look at three games in particular that fans will have their eyes on:

3. Newcastle United vs. Manchester City

Whenever Newcastle United and Manchester City face off, there are always plenty of fireworks. These are two impressive clubs with a whole lot of star power on both ends of the pitch. Remember the last time these two sides faced off on Aug. 19?

The Etihad Stadium was packed and City ended up earning a very tough 1-0 victory. On Saturday, Newcastle will be hoping to get some revenge and the hometown fans will be ready to make a difference. This could be another see-saw match between these two.

2. Manchester United vs. Tottenham

Arguably the best meeting this weekend will be the one on Sunday between Manchester United and Tottenham. Both these teams are on the outside looking in for the Top 4, but they both will be chasing the three points at Old Trafford. This is a huge home game for United, as Erik Ten Hag is hoping to get his haters off his back.

Fortunately for Ten Hag, multiple star players are ready to make their return from injury. This includes Casemiro, Luke Shaw and Lisando Martinez. Rasmus Hojlund, who missed the Nottingham Forest defeat, is ready to be back in the starting 11 too. This one could go either way, but Spurs most definitely have a big challenge ahead of them.

1. Liverpool vs. Bournemouth

Lastly, Liverpool is in first place and they want to keep things rockin' on Sunday vs. Bournemouth. However, this is not a game that LFC can afford to look past, even if Bournemouth is currently in 12th place.

Bournemouth has been on fire of late, winning four of its last five games. This included the shocking 3-0 victory at Old Trafford against United. With this game at the Vitality Stadium, Liverpool will need to be at its best if they want to record a convincing road victory. We'll see how things go here.
