This is what fans of the U.S. Women's National Team were hoping to see. To open things up for group play, Emma Hayes' team faced off against Zambia in a showdown that plenty of people were excited for.
Well, the USA had no issues at all posting a victory, as they were able to post a 3-0 win. The goals came courtesy of Trinity Rodman and Sophia Smith, with the latter finding the back of the net twice. It was Rodman's goal, though, that continues to be talked about and for good reason.

Trinity Rodman scored a world-class goal for the USA at the Olympics
It's easy to watch that clip above and be left speechless. Rodman received a great pass inside of the box from Lindsay Horan and then she put the moves on multiple Zambia defenders to set up a fantastic finish.
Sometimes it's easy to forget that Rodman is only 22 - she's a youngster who is playing well beyond her years for this team. Rodman wasn't the only standout, though, as Smith also deserves a lot of credit.
She scored two goals in a matter of minutes for the USA to boost its lead from 1-0 to 3-0. Smith has always been known for being a fantastic finisher and things are already being displayed in France.
This victory for the USA gives them a ton of confidence, as they have two more games in group play. Next up for Hayes, Rodman, Smith and Co. is a showdown with Germany on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET.
This is going to be a tough task for the red, white and blue, but it's a game that the players are fired up for. With three points over the Germans, the USA will have one foot in the door for the knockout stages. Let's see what they'll be able to get done this weekend first, though, before we start thinking about the quarterfinals.
