PSG continues its dominance in Ligue 1 with 2-0 win over Lille

So far, things have gone nothing but smooth for Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 action. At the top of the standings once again, PSG moved eight points clear of Marseille following a convincing 2-0 victory over Lille.

When Mauro Icardi arrived to Paris from Inter Milan on loan, fans out there had the expectation he’d continue his strong goal-scoring ways. That was showcased against Lille.

In the 17th minute, the Argentine forward was able to put a touch on a beautiful cross into the box from Idrissa Gueye to put the home side in front. Icardi’s form has been superb of late, as he has 10 goals in his last nine games in all competitions. Those numbers surely are tough to match.

Less than 15 minutes later, Angel Di Maria decided he couldn’t let his Argentinian countryman be the only one to find the back of the net. Di Maria put PSG up 2-0 in the 17th minute, sending a lovely left-footed shot into the top left corner.

With the victory, PSG now holds 33 points, while Marseille is in second place of the league standings with 25. Should PSG, as expected, go on to win the Ligue 1 title this season, it’ll be their ninth championship in its history.

Keep your eyes on this club, as with stars like Kylian Mbappe, Neymar Jr., Edinson Cavani and others hungry to make a run at the Champions League trophy too, 2019-20 could prove to be a season to remember for the French giants.
