Manchester City makes statement with head-turning win over Chelsea

Is this the best we've seen Manchester City play in the English Premier League this season? You bet. On Sunday night, City traveled to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea FC in what was supposed to be a see-saw battle.
The opposite was the case, however, as Man City cruised to a dominant 3-1 victory over Chelsea. In impressive fashion, Manchester City FC scored all three of their goals in the first half.

Ilkay Gundogan got the party started for Man City in the 18th minute, firing off a laser past a diving Edouard Mendy. Just three minutes later, Phil Foden doubled the score with a nifty finish at Mendy's near post.
Then in the 34th minute, an outstanding MCFC counter attack opened the door for Raheem Sterling to have a one-on-one with Mendy. Moments later, his shot fired off the post, but Kevin De Bruyne was at the right place at the right time to find the back of the net soon after.
As for Chelsea, this was simply a game to forget for Frank Lampard's group. They simply had no answer to stop City in the first half and couldn't muster up much offensively to make City's defense feel nervous until the 90th minute when Callum Hudson-Odoi scored to close things at 3-1.
With the victory, Manchester City has now climbed up to fifth place in the English Premier League table with 29 points and a goal differential of 12. Chelsea finds itself in eighth place with 26 points.
Next up for City will be a showdown with Manchester United on Wednesday night in the semifinals of the Carabao Cup.
