Manchester City overcomes early deficit for heart-stopping win over Chelsea

What a thriller between Manchester City and Chelsea!

On Saturday night, the two Premier League powerhouses squared off in a game that will likely be talked about all the way through the rest of the season, as the defending champs were able to leave their home turf with a 2-1 victory.

It didn’t come easy for Manchester City, as Chelsea jumped out in front with a fabulous goal from N’Golo Kante in the 21st minute to put the visiting club ahead. Just eight minutes later, though, Kevin De Bruyne evened things up at 1-1 after his deflected shot landed in the back of the net.

In the 37th minute, however, Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez scored the eventual game-winner, drilling a perfect left-footed effort past a diving Kepa Arrizabalaga.

On the strike, Mahrez flew through multiple Chelsea defenders and blasted his shot past the Chelsea keeper. We couldn’t believe that goal! Neither could the City supporters at the Etihad Stadium, who jumped off their seats to celebrate.

In stoppage time, Raheem Sterling appeared to make things 3-1 with a strong finish of his own, but the goal was ultimately ruled offsides. Regardless, City earned the three points with its 2-1 victory.

Signables was thrilled to be there and watch such an exciting match. From start to finish, the supporters for both teams made the experience even better to witness from the stands. With the victory, Manchester City is in third place of the EPL table, while Chelsea is now fourth.
