It has been two months since we last saw Lionel Messi in action on the pitch. Messi, one of the best players ever, went down with an ankle sprain in the Copa America Final. Argentina was able to take down Colombia 1-0 in that match over in Miami.

Since then, however, Inter Miami fans have been waiting to see when he'd be able to get back on the field. Luckily, the long wait is now over, as it has been announced that Messi will be fit to take on the Philadelphia Union on Saturday night.
Lionel Messi will return for Inter Miami to take on Philadelphia
"He's fine," Inter Miami coach Gerardo Martino said via ESPN. "Yesterday he returned to training. He is contemplated for tomorrow's game and after training we will define the strategy for him, but he is available. We are going to once again have the best player in the world within the team so we are all happy about that situation."
This is music to our ears. Miami has been able to survive without Messi in action, but there's no denying they're a much better team when he's healthy and causing problems for opposing defenses.
Ahead of Saturday's clash with the Union, Inter Miami is in first place of the Eastern Conference with 59 points. Matter of fact, they have the most points of any team in the MLS, which should give them a ton of confidence with the 2024 postseason sneaking up on us.
Messi is dreaming of helping David Beckham's team win the MLS Cup. While in Europe, he won countless titles with FC Barcelona and PSG, but now he's ready to bring the same kind of happiness to the fanbase all over South Florida.
Not having him suit up was a bit of a bummer for the past two months. With that said, a healthy Messi is wonderful for the league overall. Let's see if he'll be able to find the back of the net in his first game back.
