James Milner is a professional through and through. There's no denying his class on the pitch, but what makes him so loved by Liverpool fans all over the world is how he represents the club with the utmost respect.
This was once again showcased this week in Liverpool's FA Cup tie with Shrewsbury at Anfield. With the English Premier League's 'Winter Break' giving the Reds two weeks off of action, most of the senior players left England for a vacation.
That wasn't the case for Milner, though, as he was spotted donning a heavy jacket, supporting the Reds in their 1-0 win on Tuesday night. Keep in mind, it was the youth team playing that night. Milner could have been anywhere in the world, taking some well-deserved time off. Instead, he was with all the supporters cheering on his team.
Neil Critchley: “He was genuinely delighted at how the boys performed and I can't thank him enough. He was buzzing. We've given him a game against Chelsea away to look forward to." 👊🔴— Anfield Watch (@AnfieldWatch) February 5, 2020
Imagine being a member of Liverpool's U23 team playing in the FA Cup tie. You've just helped the club advance to the next round, and you look up in the stands and see Milner smiling from ear to ear. It truly doesn't get much better than that.
Milner, Liverpool's vice-captain, has two goals and two assists in 16 league games this year. After helping this team win the Champions League title last season, he now has his eyes set on winning the EPL championship this spring.
With Liverpool's dominant play this campaign, which currently has them 22 points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table, it's only a matter of time before they're able to lock in the first league title in 30 years.
This group of players and coaches deserve all the success -- especially the one and only James Milner.
