Just a few days after inking left back Ben Chilwell from Leicester City, Chelsea has gone ahead and added even more reinforcements for its defense.Â
Â
On Friday morning, the club announced it has officially agreed to terms with veteran center back Thiago Silva, who just helped Paris Saint-Germain reach the Champions League Final last week.Â
Â
Despite being 36 years old, Silva has been a rock in defense over the years and will look to continue that form in the English Premier League.Â

Thiago Silva joins Ben Chilwell as Chelsea signings this month
Silva has joined the Blues on a one-year contract, with Chelsea having the ability to extend things for a further 12 months if they decide to do so.Â
Â
"I am so happy to be joining Chelsea," Silva said. "I am delighted to be a part of Frank Lampard’s exciting squad for next season and I’m here to challenge for honours. See you soon Chelsea fans, I look forward to playing at Stamford Bridge very soon."
Â
Seeing Silva in a Chelsea soccer jersey may feel a bit weird at first since he spent the past nine years with PSG in Ligue 1. Silva is a proven winner and has tremendous leadership qualities. He's been captain for AC Milan, PSG and the Brazil national team.
Â
Now, he'll look to head to Chelsea and help the Blues compete for some titles next season, which is all set to start on Sept. 12.Â
