For Arsenal, they’re in the middle of a rough 2019-20 campaign, as the Gunners currently sit in 12th place of the league table with 24 points. But, could some Brazilian help be on the way in the near future?
According to multiple reports, Arsenal’s front office is interested in signing midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. A 22-year-old MF, Guimaraes stars for Athletico Paranaense and has scored four goals and provided three assists thus far this season.
A native of Rio de Janeiro, Guimaraes is a rising star in Brazil’s Serie A and has received interest from multiple other clubs, including Chelsea. However, Arsenal have reportedly sent scouts to watch Guimaraes and are looking to beat out the competition to land his services.
While Guimaraes is yet to make an appearance for Brazil’s senior team, he has played in one game for the U23 squad. Bringing Guimaraes to London could prove to be huge for Arsenal, as Granit Xhaka appears to have one foot out the door. The former club captain has been linked with a move to German club Hertha Berlin for January.
Time will tell if Arsenal are able to get a deal done to bring the Brazilian to the EPL. Should things go down, though, fans will surely be fired up to see his talents head to the Emirates.
